The Adoptionist view, was and is shared by many Gnostic Christians. The idea that the Christ spirit entered Jesus at his baptism (or resurrection). This view was labelled a heresy by the Proto Orthodox Church.

✅ 1) Mark 1:10–11 (NIV) 10 "Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”"

Note: Literally the Greek preposition *eis* ("into") indicates the Spirit descended *into* him, suggesting deep indwelling.
✅ 2) Acts 10:37–38 (NIV) 37 "You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached— 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." ✅ 3) Mark 3:21 (NIV) 21 "When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, ‘He is out of his mind.’"

The family of Jesus recognised his behaviour was out of character for him. ✅ 4) Romans 1:3–4 (NIV) 3 “regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, 4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”

✅ 5) John 21:12 (NIV) 12 "Jesus said, ‘Come and have breakfast.’ None of the disciples dared ask him, ‘Who are you?’ They knew it was the Lord."
